Turið o Þurið era hija de Ragnhild Þoralfsdóttir y Þorkil Barfrost. En el 986, se casó con Sigmundur Brestisson, el enemigo de Tróndur í Gøtu en la Saga Færeyinga (más información aquí), en una boda que duró nueve días en la granja de Haakon Sigurdarsson cerca de Trondheim, una de las ciudades más importantes de Noruega.
