Fue la primera mujer de la que tenemos constancia en la historia de las islas Feroe. En época vikinga, era la mujer más influyente de la isla, y la primera mujer cristiana de las islas Feroe. Turið o Þurið era hija de Ragnhild Þoralfsdóttir y Þorkil Barfrost. En el 986, se casó con Sigmundur Brestisson, el enemigo de Tróndur í Gøtu en la Saga Færeyinga (más información aquí), en una boda que duró nueve días en la granja de Haakon Sigurdarsson cerca de Trondheim, una de las ciudades más importantes de Noruega. Around 986, she married Sigmundur Brestisson, the enemy of Tróndur í Gøtu in the Færeyinga Saga (more information here), in a wedding which lasted nine days at the Haakon Sigurdarsson's farm, near Trondheim, one of the most important cities of Norway. After her husband's death in 1005, who christianize the Faroe Islands in 999, she was generally called Þurið Meginekkja, translated as "the Mighty Widow" by Icelandic Saga Database [1].
